Message from Committee Chairperson:

Reunion 2008: A Choice to Change the World

Dear Brothers, Sisters, Teachers, and Colleagues,

It's hard to believe, but we are rapidly sliding toward the 2nd anniversary of our college reunion.

We were fortunate in so many ways to live where and when we did.  Our years were so unique, in so many ways, that it's been portrayed repeatedly in school assembly, some live events, and school website.

It's now time to get back together, to revisit each other and exploring the unique of Thailand together after long separations.

This Web site will be used to keep you up to date on our progress, and to
(hopefully) get you involved as much as you would like. It will feature photos and
anything else we can find from our school years.

More importantly, the site now has a guest book area where you will be able to post messages that everyone can read. We hope you join in, share what you have, and also help us find others in the class so we can invite them to join in also.

Please check back often, this Web site can only be as good as YOU make it!

May God Bless us!!

Ishak Halim

Committee Chairperson

Sad passing of Mr Eckel Posted by tigeroz84 on 2007-04-19 11:10:23

    Breaking News!!

Yes, this is going to break the hearts of so many St John's alumnus and students.

* Mr Hugh Eckel *

has sadly passed away early morning on Tuesday, 17 April 2007 due to a heart attack. His passing was so sudden that the news shocked everyone at the college. He didn't show any sign of illness and was seen talking to students and teachers on Monday the previous day.

Mr Eckel started teaching at St John's College in 2001. He replaced Mr Jon Cenko who was teaching Economics. Since then he also taught Accounting, Australian Studies and had been teaching 7 generations of students (generation refers to year in this case). He was particularly close with the international students as many of us chose business as our major. Australian studies was also taught to the new students studying the intensive English program.

His funeral will be held on Friday 20 April 2007 at 2pm at St Mary's cathedral in Darwin Australia. He will surely be missed by many of his students and former students. Anyone wishing to send condolences or prayers please send an e-mail to Mrs Ann Tan (cntanau@yahoo.com.au) who will then pass them onto Mr Eckel's family. Please keep his family in your prayer.

I will update this as I gather more info on Mr Eckel as I left St John's many years now so don't really know what he was doing at St John's.

 Latest News

Most of you are now on your end-of-year holiday, which you really deserve after working hard for the whole year trying to get those assignments done or simply get the job done at work.

Since it is now near the end of 2005, we really need to get going with our reunion  plan. If you have not yet read the newsletters sent out to your Inbox or possibly ended up in your Trashbox, you can read them Here.

Basically, we need to get the discussion going on the Reunion plan, please discuss it in the relevant Forum topic.

A reminder that the Reunion is for EVERYONE who has attended St John’s College or is currently studying, so both PAST and PRESENT students are WELCOME

Lastly, if you know anyone who has not registered or who is not aware of the Reunion plan, could you please let them know about it? Many thanks!

Have a safe and happy holiday!

Merry Christmas to those celebrating it and Happy New Year 2006!!
